Hungary: working with Roma villagers

Working with Roma villagers ( Hungary - WWD) Dregelypalank has 1400 inhabitants; out of them approximately 400 Roma. Most of them live at the outskirts of the village. Unemplyment, poor nutrition, lack of education and poor housing condition are characteristic. Our project is trageting the disadvataged Roma children and their families. As food provision, the families have received 200 kg pastries and 60 kg dry food (oil, margarine, and rice) were distributed to 20 poor families. Winter clothing and shoes – a van and 2 cars load – were also distributed. Firewood was arranged for the Rácz family – Anita, mother of 6 (my first local partner). Some of these services were done with volunteer staff and financial support of Bharata Cultural Center (Budapest). The Parcel Aid Movement (Szocsoma) gave contact of two bakeries who donated bread.
